Lionsgate has released the official trailer for The Honeymoon, the upcoming adventure comedy centering around a newlywed couple whose romantic trip to Venice gets gatecrashed by the groom’s clumsy best friend. The film is scheduled to arrive in select theaters and on VOD on December 16.

The video highlights how Adam and Sarah’s honeymoon gets ruined by Adam’s best friend Bav after he accidentally breaks a drug lord’s priceless art collection. In order to pay for the damage, Adam and Bav must do a drug delivery while Sarah is held hostage by the handsome mobster who has seemingly fallen for her.

The Honeymoon is written and directed by Dean Craig (Death at a Funeral, Love Wedding Repeat). The film is led by Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova, Asim Chaudhry, and Pico Alexander. Joining them are Marco Valerio Montesano, Michele Enrico Montesano, and Lucas Bravo.
“Adam whisks his new bride Sarah to Venice for a honeymoon,” reads the synopsis. “But when Adam brings best friend Bav along for the ride, Bav causes one gross-out disaster after another. When charming gangster Giorgio falls for Sarah, he gets rid of Adam and Bav by sending them across the border on a drug-dealing mission. Can they outrun the Slovenian cops, dodge bullets from the baddies, and get back before Sarah gets a rich new mobster boyfriend?”

The Honeymoon hails from Notorious Pictures, with Guglielmo Marchetti serving as a producer. It is also produced by Bakalova and Piers Tempest.
Gannibal Trailer Previews Disney+’s Japanese Horror Thriller Series
Disney+ has dropped the official trailer for Gannibal, the upcoming Japanese horror thriller based on Masaaki Ninomiya’s bestselling manga of the same name. The series will be available for streaming on December 28.

“Gannibal is a thriller that will leave audiences gasping with shock after every episode,” producer Teruhisa Yamamoto said in a statement. “But it’s also a human story that reflects upon the differences between family values and culture that, at a glance, seem so contradictory and yet are so relatable. With Gannibal and our other Japanese local content, we are building on Disney’s rich history of storytelling and are combining it with Japanese creativity to open new doors of entertainment for everyone.”
Gannibal is directed by Shinzo Katayama from a screenplay written by Takamasa Oe. The adaptation will be led by Yuya Yagira, Shô Kasamatsu, and Riho Yoshioka.

Gannibal is produced by Teruhisa Yamamoto, Akihisa Yamamoto, and Tatsuya Iwakura. The project was recently unveiled at Disney’s recent APAC content showcase.
Cocaine Bear Trailer Previews Drug-Fueled Rampage
The first official trailer for the film Cocaine Bear is here, teasing an outrageous adventure featuring a bear that gets into a batch of drugs.

The upcoming film is directed by Elizabeth Banks and stars Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Christian Convery-Jennings, Alden Ehrenreich, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Brooklynn Prince, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Kristofer Hivju, Hannah Hoekstra, Aaron Holiday, and Emmy winners Margo Martindale and Ray Liotta.

Lionsgate Sets 2023 Release Date for Horror Comedy
Lionsgate has successfully acquired the theatrical distribution rights to the MRC horror comedy film The Blackening. The movie had its world premiere last September at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival.

The studio has set the release date for the upcoming theatrical release of The Blackening, which stars Antoinette Robertson and Jermaine Fowler. The film is slated to premiere in theaters on Juneteenth weekend, June 16, 2023.
The Blackening is directed and produced by Tim Story (Ride Along, Think Like A Man) from a screenplay co-written by Tracy Oliver and Dewayne Perkins. The film stars Antoinette Robertson, Dewayne Perkins, Sinqua Walls, Grace Byers, X Mayo, Melvin Gregg, Jermaine Fowler, Yvonne Orji, and Jay Pharoah.
“The horror comedy centers around a group of Black friends who reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer,” reads the synopsis. “Forced to play by his rules, the friends soon realize this ain’t no motherfu**in’ game.”
